A few years ago I (once again) committed to reading through the Bible in a year. The first year I did it on my own, and it really wasn't that bad! The next year Nancy started reading through the same plan using an app, which allows us to comment and reflect on the passage daily. The last couple years before they headed to college, all the kids did too.
Two things (at least) that I found out from the discipline of daily Scripture reading:
- Accountability really helps to stay on track
- The longer you do it, the more you will fall in love with doing it.
There is something about reading Scripture year after year; I begin to have a better understanding of how to to view the Bible as a whole, how to read it's different genre's, and was amazed that every year I do it God's Spirit teaches me anew.
I know we are a couple months into the year, but it's never too late to start. Here's the passages I read for today. Read them and find out how long it takes you, I bet it's not as long as you think!
Psalm 27:1-6
Mark 9:33-10:12
Leviticus 1-3 (that's what you get for starting now)
