The Beauty from the Spirit

Part of my Bible reading this morning was in Exodus 35. Verses 30-35 read:

30 Then Moses said to the people of Israel, “See, the Lord has called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah; 31 and he has filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, with intelligence, with knowledge, and with all craftsmanship, 32 to devise artistic designs, to work in gold and silver and bronze, 33 in cutting stones for setting, and in carving wood, for work in every skilled craft. 34 And he has inspired him to teach, both him and Oholiab the son of Ahisamach of the tribe of Dan. 35 He has filled them with skill to do every sort of work done by an engraver or by a designer or by an embroiderer in blue and purple and scarlet yarns and fine twined linen, or by a weaver—by any sort of workman or skilled designer.

Did you notice that it reads "he has filled him with the Spirit of God"? Why did God do this? Was it to preach from the mountaintop, teach the law, exercise judgement on the people? Nope. He filled Bezalel with the Spirit of God give him the the tools he needed to make beautiful things. It's not just the Moses' and the Samuel's and the Elijah's and the John the Baptist who God filled with his Spirit, although I am glad He did.

It's also the Bezalel's.

Those who may never be called to evangelize to massive crowds, or Pastor a church, or be a leader as the world views leadership.

Those He calls to bring beauty in this world, to glorify Him through their paintings, or their sculptures. To carve wood, and to create beautiful designs. That was an encouragement to me personally as I shared these verses with my daughter who has been gifted in these areas, and I trust it was an encouragement for her to use what she has been given for God's glory.

What about you? What Gifts have you been given that can bring beauty into this world?
