The Promise Keeper

2 Peter 3:9 ESV
[9] The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.

I was reminded of this verse as I was reading the account of the Exodus. 430 years is a long time, 5 or 6 lifetimes to us. But God is always working.

God made a promise to Abraham that he would become a great nation. The Exodus is a pivotal part of that story, starting with one man (Joseph) sold into slavery in Egypt and continuing with well over a million people coming back out. Abraham probably didn’t see it happening that way. We can’t always see God working either. But He Always Is.

Exodus 12:37 ESV
[37] And the people of Israel journeyed from Rameses to Succoth, about six hundred thousand men on foot, besides women and children.

Exodus 12:40-42 ESV
[40] The time that the people of Israel lived in Egypt was 430 years. [41] At the end of 430 years, on that very day, all the hosts of the Lord went out from the land of Egypt. [42] It was a night of watching by the Lord, to bring them out of the land of Egypt; so this same night is a night of watching kept to the Lord by all the people of Israel throughout their generations.
